Larissa and Dillon are invited to a Harry Potter Halloween party. Larissa shows up as the golden snitch, having spent hours creating a golden paper mâché globe with wings. Dillon also put in hours of effort. He shaved his beard and put on a tie and bam, Professor Lupin. Dillon and Larissa briefly meet, but don't talk much. He thought Larissa was cute, but he wasn't sure if she was single. Little did they know, multiple friends were scheming to set them up. December rolls around and Dillon sees Larissa on a dating app. Talk about leaving an impression, wink wink. His grand pick-up line was "I think I know you from somewhere" (he knew exactly where he knew her from). Larissa, not recognizing Dillon from his photos (in which he had a full beard), thought it was just another pick up line. But it was the start of something new.
First date is set - Friday night dinner at Paragary's. Larissa walks up to the restaurant as Dillon is waiting outside for her. Dillon breaks the news that he didn't make a reservation and it was packed out, so they end up eating down the street at Saigon Alley (eerily reminiscent of Diagon Alley, a setting in Harry Potter). We say it's meant to be.
Dillon and Larissa love to explore, adventure, and see beautiful places. On their third date, they snowshoed in Tahoe at Chickadee Ridge. They have lunch at the top with a beautiful view and feed the birds on the way back. Dillon gave Larissa her Disney Princess moment - little chickadees *literally* ate out of their hands. They had wonderful conversation on the drive to and from Tahoe, and this stands to be one of their favorite dates so far. Over their time together, some of their favorite places have come to be Big Sur, Yosemite, Santa Barbara, Maui, and Mendocino - to name a few. They love camping and being outside together. Day trips and travelling are some of their favorite things, among also playing the nose flute. Dillon and Larissa are excited to continue adventuring together!
Dillon and Larissa join his family for the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Reno (highly recommend). Larissa had an idea going into this weekend that Dillon might propose. But the weekend commences and almost comes to a close, and no proposal. On the drive back home, Dillon insisted they stop for a short hike to the water in Tahoe. Larissa, always down for an adventure, was on board. Once they got down to the water, Dillon went off to find a spot to "use the bathroom". Larissa laid out on a rock in the sun. Quite a bit of time goes by, and Larissa popped up and sees Dillon wasn't back yet. It was probably hard to find a spot with no people around - the harbor was quite busy - so no big deal. Little did she know, Dillon went off to scout out a spot that might be best for the proposal and getting the ring ready. When he returns, he tells Larissa they should get some nice photos. Instantly, Larissa knew it was the moment!! Dillon, being the sly dog that he is, grabbed an Altoids box out of his bag, got himself a mint, then held it suspiciously by his side. They go to pose for a picture, and Larissa, the sly dog that she is, asks for a mint. Dillon brings the box out, and in the center is the most gorgeous ring! He goes to kneel, Larissa follows him, he tells her to get up, and pops the question! And that is how we got here today. It was the most perfect day in the most perfect place - Skunk Harbor, Lake Tahoe.
