Our First Date

May 8, 2020

Dillon and Kayleigh met during the Stay-at-Home order for Covid, so there wasn't really a way to meet people except online. The two matched with each other on a dating app (Mutual) and planned to visit a popular hiking trail that was near where Kayleigh lived. They both recall thinking the other was attractive and having fun, but neither thought things would progress past a date or two. At the end of the date, Dillon invited Kayleigh to a "cattle-branding party" at his friend's house in Wyoming the next weekend. Kayleigh agreed to go. (I mean how often are you invited to a cattle-branding party??)

The Cattle-Branding Party

May 16, 2020

Kayleigh missed the actual cattle branding, but got to Wyoming in time to watch some cows get vaccinated. Even though she felt pretty out of place amongst all the cattle and cowboys, Dillon had a way of putting her at ease. They spent the entire day together, shooting guns, exploring sandstone caves, canoeing, and horseback riding. In the evening Dillon got a couple steaks for dinner and cooked them over a fire he built. It was very tasty, and Kayleigh was very impressed.

Walking the Wasatch Front

May 23, 2020

Their next date was a week later, in Utah this time. They had planned to try their hand at geocaching, but this quickly devolved into a really long walk. They walked all over Farmington, then when they got tired of that, they walked all over Bountiful, then Scheel's, then City Creek Mall, then the Avenues in Salt Lake. The talked and talked and talked. Somewhere along the way (in Bountiful) Dillon held Kayleigh's hand for the first time. By the end of the night, the two had decided to "go steady."

The Proposal

October 17, 2020

Dillon's proposal to Kayleigh was private and sweet and perfectly matched the rest of their relationship. They had plans to go to dinner in Park City, and Dillon took Kayleigh on the scenic route over the peaks of the Uinta Mountains. They stopped at a beautiful lake and it was there that Dillon asked Kayleigh to marry him. She was so excited to finally get to say YES!
