This love story starts on a fateful Saturday in New York City. The morning kicked off with a frantic phone call from the restaurant management at Locanda Verde begging Jessica to come in to cover for a hostess who had just called out with a last minute crisis. This particular brunch shift was sleepier than usual given the overcast chilly day, which left Jessica free to do what she did best: pilfer snacks from the kitchen crew and hang out in the hotel's private drawing room to spy on Michael Keaton while he ate his pancakes. However, somebody who would prove to be even more important than her childhood celebrity crush was waiting in the drawing room that day...a cute new man-bun rocking server named Dillon! After a quick introduction from a colleague (hi James!) Dillon and Jessica spent the remainder of that shift lost in their own world, anxiously counting down the minutes until they could leave. Totally engrossed in getting to know one another, their conversation spilled across the street to the local hangout for post-shift drinks, then into the evening for a friends film fundraising event in Brooklyn, the subway ride back to Manhattan (where Dillon fell asleep after seeing Jessica all the way back to her stop...and ended up in Coney Island at 5am), and from that day on they hardly spent a minute apart! Dillon knew she was the one when he saw the original Star Wars trilogy on her entertainment console, and Jessica knew she had hit the jackpot when Dillon snuck out in the morning to grab a full box of fresh-off-the-line Krispy Kreme donuts just for the two of them.
One thing about Jessica is that she has a habit of ruining anything that is meant to be a surprise for herself. Although clues to the impending surprise kept popping up and she prodded with questions every step of the way, it's safe to say she never saw this one coming! Under the guise that they were meeting some friends for a drink at Grand Central's Campbell Apartment, Dillon led Jessica down by the Whipser Walls and into the dramatic chandelier lined passageway to Vanderbilt Hall. There, under the stars of Helleu's famed celestial mural, Dillon took Jessica by the hands, told her how deeply in love he was with her and he wanted to continue their life together bonded spiritually (and legally), and then dropped down on one knee and presented her with a dazzling ring to seal the deal while their friends & family cheered them on from the balcony overhead. It was truly the perfect moment! We are so excited to share the next step of our journey with you. See you in New York City!
