We're getting married!

At the height of online dating, Diletta and Gerard met "the old-fashioned way”—through mutual friends who recruited them to join a social kickball league. That summer, every Wednesday on the National Mall, Gerard was captivated by Diletta’s lack of hand-eye coordination and Diletta was in awe of Gerard’s basement flip cup expertise. During some playful banter at a Fourth of July party, Gerard semi-jokingly asked Diletta to be his plus one to a destination wedding in the beautiful city of…..Chillicothe, Ohio. To his surprise, she agreed to make the trip…and the rest is history.

The ring was ready way sooner than expected, so Gerard decided to go off-script and propose the very next day. He knew he had to satisfy both of Diletta’s requirements for a proposal—her nails had to be done and the moment had to be recorded. Luckily for him, Diletta had just gotten a fresh manicure and they had plans to visit their friends the next day so both requirements would be met (shout-out to Mike and Kara). After a frenzy of impromptu calls with friends, family, and the future in-laws, the plan was set in motion: Gerard would propose to Diletta at Mike and Kara’s house under the guise of a housewarming party. Luckily for Gerard, Diletta never caught on to his last-minute plan...oh, and she said yes.
