A long time ago in a small bar miles away from Seattle, Katie joined the highly exclusive "Coug Mug Club" at WSU's famous bar & restaurant The Coug. In 2012 Katie was hired on The Coug staff to be the newest bartender and support fall football season. Kyle trained Katie to work the opening/day shift and they began their relationship as co-workers. Following graduation in 2013, Kyle and Katie kept their friendship for 6 years and would see each other at Seattle events through mutual friends of the Coug and WSU. On the morning of February 14th, 2019 Kyle sent Katie an "accidental" text with the song they used to play on the jukebox during their shifts together at The Coug. Kyle then invited Katie out for happy hour to catch up as friends at Fremont Brewing. This led to their first official date in March which took place in Ballard. By the end of the month they became a committed couple. Kyle and Katie moved into their Seattle apartment on Queen Anne, May 2021, where they still live currently. Their apartment is conveniently close to the siblings they see regularly and friends in the greater Seattle area. Kyle proposed to Katie November 23rd 2024 during a surprise weekend getaway to Victoria B.C. They enjoy their life in Seattle with convenient access to restaurants, coffee shops, sporting events, concerts in the city and last but not least their view of the city.
