How We Met

Matt and Lauren actually met while they were both in high school. They did not attend the same school, but they were introduced by a mutual friend. They had a small high school romance, but went their separate ways for a few years. Even though Lauren and Matt weren't together, they were still friends on social media and saw how the other was doing through the years; like Matt going off to work in England and Lauren working at Disneyland.

The Romance Awakens

In 2015, Star Wars was reigniting with a seventh film titled The Force Awakens. With the movie coming out, Lauren and Matt were beyond excited to see it. (Matt was super jealous Lauren saw it at the Grauman's Chinese Theater opening night). Both were messaging, on snapchat of all apps, before the movie started, but Matt hated constantly checking the app, so he asked Lauren if her number was still the same and the texting ensued...........until the film started. Eventually, Matt asked Lauren out to dinner and to see the film again and she said of course (but she did not think it was a date). Overtime, Matt kept asking Lauren out and she kept saying yes and they made it official.

What a Bunch of Nerds

During their dating, Lauren and Matt learned how much in common they had, but also introduced each other to nerd things they were passionate about. Matt introduced Lauren to the movie trivia Schmoedown, and she quickly learned how much movie trivia she actually knew. (Matt destroys her at the Star Wars trivia, but Lauren holds her own in the Inner Geekdom league and sometimes beats Matt). Lauren has introduced Matt to different animes that now he is hooked. My Hero Academia has become one of Matt's go-to's. When they aren't working, both will play video games together or plan to see the next Marvel film. There is going to be a lot of their nerdiness incorporated into the wedding. See how much you recognize!

The Engagement

December 25, 2020

The year 2020 was not what anyone expected, but it did not stop Matt from formulating a plan to propose. During a trip up to Idaho to visit Matt's parents, he was collecting the ring he wanted to propose with and Lauren had no idea. Before he popped the question, he had one more stop to make. While Lauren was out kayaking with her sister, Matt was asking her parent's blessing to propose. They said yes, and Matt began planning. Sadly, the pandemic ruined his initial plan to propose, but he came up with a backup quickly. You see, initially he told Lauren her Christmas presents were delayed because of the slow shipping period and she understood. However, while she was rushing to get ready to head to her parents for Christmas dinner, Matt told her that one of her gifts was in the house and she had to find it. There was a small container in the Christmas tree and while she picked it up, Matt grabbed her hand and asked her to marry him and she said YES. Now they are planning their wedding and are excited to continue into their forever.
