It was the middle of lockdown in 2020. Two lonely, bored people decided to try dating apps. That was literally the only way to meet someone new at the time. Virgil messaged Dielle on POF, unsure if she'd be interested. She messaged back and they clicked right away. After a few days of texting, they switched to Marco Polo, you know... just to make sure everybody was who they claimed to be. And a few days after that, after discussing concerns around Covid safety, they met up at a local park at night. Our first date was magical and surprising and ended with a totally unplanned meet the parents. How were we supposed to know while we were bonding/sharing/making googly eyes/watching a super fat raccoon raid a trash can, that Dielle's family was freaking out about her safety. After Dielle got lost on cloud 9, never checking in with her sister who was on "just in case" duty, her parents showed up at the park to make sure nothing nefariously horrible had happened. It was startling and hilarious to Dielle. It was terrifying and infuriating for her family. And Virgil was just relieved that no one stayed freaked out, and happy to know how loved this girl was. We always say that that night, we were in a romcom while the parents were in a horror movie. It's been 4 years since then, and we are more in love than ever. We have gamed together, grown together, supported each other through hard times, and supported each other through new opportunities. We have shared so much love, laughter, and hijinks. We have built a family. Dielle went from living alone to living with a man, a young boy, a dog, and 3-4 cats. We are so excited for our little family to start this new chapter together. We got adopted by a big orange boy named Frankie. * May 12, 2024: Engaged! * March 23, 2025: Gonna Get Married!
