Leading up to the proposal, Diego kept fake proposing, knowing it would throw a semi-expecting Monica off. After having a hard time deciding on the location, He picked a park that they had both visited in the past (and have visited many times since!). To throw her off one last time, he set up a fake picnic area with food & a blanket, and took her blindfolded to the picnic blanket for "the big surprise". Monica thought that it was another fake proposal! Little did she know, a mariachi quartet was standing right behind her. As she began to think that the picnic was all to offer, the mariachi began to play "Hermoso Cariño" by Vicente Fernandez. As she turned around and walked across the bridge over the pond, Monica was met with the quartet playing for her, next to rose petals in the shape of a heart & lights that said "Marry Me". After sharing the moment, Diego got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. They spent the rest of the night enjoying the music of the mariachi, taking photos, and sharing the news with close family.

En las semanas previas a la propuesta, Diego estuvo fingiendo proponerle matrimonio. El sabía que eso mantendría a Monica a la expectativa; ya que empezaba a sospechar. Después de batallar para escoger el lugar perfecto, él eligió un parque al que ambos ya habían acudido previamente (y al que han regresado muchas veces desde entonces!). Para poder despistar por última vez a Monica, él preparó un picnic falso; con comida y una cobija, y llevó a Monica con los ojos vendados hasta ahí para “la gran sorpresa”. Monica estaba convencida de que sería otra propuesta falsa. Lo que nunca imaginó era que, justo detrás de ella, estaba esperando un cuarteto de mariachis. Cuando Monica empezó a pensar que el picnic era todo, los mariachis comenzaron a tocar “Hermoso Cariño” de Vicente Fernández. Al darse la vuelta y cruzar el puente sobre el estanque, Monica vio al cuarteto tocando para ella, junto a pétalos de rosas formando un corazón y luces que decían “Casate conmigo”. Después de disfrutar ese momento, Diego se arrodilló y le pidió que se casara con él. Pasaron el resto de la noche escuchando al mariachi, tomando fotos y compartiendo la noticia con su familia más cercana.
