I had just moved to Northeast Philadelphia in 2013. I became good friends with my next-door neighbor who took me to the only bar in the northeast that wouldn't card me lol. Well, the only bar I was willing to risk being embarrassed getting denied at the door. It was Valentine's Day, and for some reason the bar decided to have a zombie themed V-day party. Of course I went in full prosthetics, fake blood, and dirty old cloths. I had been going to this bar every Thursday for months. It was a small dive bar, so it was always the same people. Not that night. In came walking in, who I didn't realize at the time, would be the love of my life. After that night, I saw him there every Thursday. Years later his friend told me, when Diego saw me that first night, in zombie costume and all, he told him that I was going to be his girlfriend one day. Which Rich responded "No chance" lol. He never gave up, and I'm so glad he didn't.
It was my 30th birthday. I decided what I wanted for my birthday was a big family trip to Las Vegas. For a year we planned this amazing family trip with my family, and Diego's. It was the third night there and we all went out to dinner to a Mexican restaurant in the Venetian. While at dinner I was trying to figure out with everyone what we were doing after. This was the only night I didn't have a plan for all of us. At the end of dinner my sister turns to me and says, "why don't we go take a family picture on the bridges outside, then we will go to one of the bars". We all go out to the bridges to take a family photo. Everyone keeps asking me "Where do you want to do this? Is this spot good?" Which I couldn't understand why everyone was bugging out about doing this picture in the perfect spot of the bridge. We take the picture, and I feel Diego grab my arm, and everyone just spreads out. I turn around and Diego is on one knee. All the strangers around us stopped walking giving us our space. It was so beautiful and felt like a dream! After he proposed we all cried and hugged on the bridge. It couldn't have been a better proposal. After we went out to a Latin Club and danced and drank the night away celebrating our new family.
