Our first date was the result of a very well-intentioned setup—thanks to Chris’s best friend’s mom and Lauren’s aunt, who were convinced we just had to meet. What followed was a slightly panicked phone call to Lauren’s brother, which led to him calling the nearest tow company—and even an Upper Providence detective—to make sure the car hadn’t been towed or stolen. Chris, staying calm and optimistic, convinced Lauren to walk just one more block down a dark and ominous side street—despite her being absolutely certain she hadn’t parked that far away. And there it was. The car. Exactly where Chris thought it might be. Our first date ended not with a grand romantic gesture, but with relief, laughter, and the realization that sometimes the best beginnings come with a little chaos—and the right person to walk an extra block with you.
