For most of us, 2020 represented a year of introspection, soul-searching, and change. This was true in many ways for Gabi and Nick, and still they kept on truckin’ in search of their love light. As the year came to a close, like a supernova, a (very well designed) software program aligned the cosmos and introduced Gabi to Nick. They began a feverish dialogue, and from Gabi’s holiday perch in Rincón, Puerto Rico and Nick’s in Palm Beach, the banter flowed, like the wine, naturally. Two weeks later, both finally back in New York, the flame burned on their first real date as they sipped clay-aged Spanish orange wine and indulged in tasty bites. By the end of the night, there was no doubt they wanted to see each other again, but there was one, not so insignificant setback: Nick was moving out of New York two days later, in favor of the warmer Covid winter climes of Coconut Grove, Miami. Initially grimacing at the notion of ever stepping foot in the Sunshine State (something this media-Boricua had never done), she ultimately agreed to visit for Valentine’s Day Weekend. On Valentine’s Day itself, they trekked to a beachside cabana in South Beach, and not 5 minutes after sitting down, Gabi agreed to Nick’s crazy idea of leaving their chairs to beat the lunch crowds at Joe’s Stone Crab. Anyone that knows Nick will understand that he full-on fell for Gabi in this crab and martini-filled moment. And thankfully, she was starting to like him (and Miami) too. Over the next year, their love built as the adventures continued: from Miami to New York, Radford to Boston, Puerto Rico to Cape Cod, and finally, a New Years trip to Paris to seal the deal. When Gabi said “yes” on the penultimate day of 2021, they turned on their love lights as the sun shone across the Seine for the only time in their 10-day journey.
