Lauren and I met on our first day of orientation as we were setting up our email accounts in the computer lab. I was sitting next to her and noticed that her password was laughably weak ("password"). I kindly pointed it out to her and told her someone like me could get into her account, but she said that it didn't matter that I knew her password because I didn't know her name. I then had to break the news that she was wearing a very large name tag that read "HELLO MY NAME IS LAUREN DIBB." From there we went our separate ways, joining different friend groups. It wasn't until months later that we started talking again. And once we started we couldn't really stop - there was always more to say or ask. It was for this reason that we kept talking even when I moved back to New York. And the rest is history.
The first time I really noticed Brian was during a rendition of Avril Lavigne's classic hit, Sk8r Boi. I saw him absolutely killing it and I thought "Woah. Who is that?". It wasn't long until the person who I most wanted to speak to every day was Brian Shah. We knew that Brian's year abroad in England was coming to a close, but we couldn't seem to do the sensible thing and just stop hanging out - we had quickly become best friends and there wasn't much we could do about it. We skyped every night, often that meant a 2am wakeup alarm for me, but it was well worth it - I would find myself more tired on the days when I slept through the night and didn't get to speak to him. I felt oddly certain, even at the time, that we would end up together, and I was right! Thanks Avril, you've never steered me wrong.
