Things To Do

Townsend is right at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, and the #1 thing to do is to get outside and hike! Here are some of our favorites, and a few other recommendations. Just don't get lost out there and miss the wedding ;)

Cades Cove Loop Road

Cades Cove Loop Road, Townsend, TN 37882

Take a drive through Cades Cove, a GSMNP favorite! Pack a picnic to take to the campground if you feel so inclined. NOTE: This is an 11-mile one-way loop road and once you've started, you have to go the whole way, there is no turning back! It is a popular spot in the spring, and you should expect it to take at least two hours.

Laurel Falls Trail

Laurel Falls Trail, Sevierville, TN 37862

An easy hike with a great payoff. One of our favorites. 2.6 miles, estimated time is two hours (including stopping at the top for a rest and photos).

Tuckaleechee Caverns

825 Cavern Road, Townsend, TN 37882
, (865) 448-2274

Take a tour through these beautiful caves for $18.

Foothills Parkway

Foothills Parkway, Townsend, TN 37882

Another great driving tour through the Smokies, with plenty of spots to stop and take pictures, eat a picnic, or take in the scenery. This trip spans 38 miles, but there are plenty of spots to stop, take photos, eat a picnic, or turn around if time gets away from you!

Wild Laurel Golf Course

702 Country Club Drive, Townsend, TN 37882
, (865) 738-3134
