Another budget friendly option is renting an Air BNB. If you are planning to travel with a group, this is a great option! There are multiple airbnb's available in Florence walking distance to the hotel blocks. Feel free to search Air BNB's as close as possible to Piazza Della Repubblica square. This square is right out front of Hotel La Gemma (where the bride and groom will be staying) and 5 miles from our wedding venue (Villa Le Fontanelle)

Rome - Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, also uses the name Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is the easiest and most budget friendly airport to fly in and out of and there will more likely be non stop options into this airport. Once you land into Rome, you can take a fast train to Florence. The distance from Rome to Florence is 162 miles and many high-speed trains make the trip in just 1 hour and 29 minutes. Rome to Florence train takes you north through Italy’s scenic Lazio and Tuscany regions. Most trains travel directly from Rome to Florence so you won’t be required to change trains. Florence has one small airport, Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR). Florence Airport is only 3 miles from the city centre. Visitors can take a taxi to the centre in just 15 minutes - for the city centre and main hotels, the flat rate is 22 Euros and 24 Euros on the weekend. Alternatively, you can take the Volain shuttle bus. It leaves every 30 minutes and the travel time is approximitely 20 minutes. It will drop you off at the bus station which is very close to the main train station, and close to Florence city centre. The cost is 5 Euros for one way or 8 Euros round trip! The second closest airport is the Pisa Airport, Galileo Galilei. (PSA) Traveling by train from Pisa to Florence is a quick commute. The distance from Florence to Pisa is 42 miles. Some high-speed trains make this journey in just 49 minutes. Ticket prices on this route average $10. The Pisa to Florence train travels west through the scenic Tuscan countryside. This journey is always direct so you won’t stop or need to change trains.
