Just four months after our first date, Mike was deployed to Kenya for almost a year. It wasn’t the traditional start to a forever kind of love, but it was ours. And through that distance, we fell in love in the most honest, unfiltered way, learning each other’s hearts from miles apart. Those long, late-night (and early morning) calls and FaceTimes became the foundation of everything we are today. We grew closer with every conversation, built trust across time zones, and became each other’s safe place.
