Things To Do

There are many incredible things to see and do within and outside of Nairobi! We’d highly recommend flying into Nairobi (JKIA airport) at least one week prior to the Diani celebration weekend, to give you time to recover from jet lag, and to explore Kenya! If you'd like to work through a great local travel agent to explore various safari camp packages or other activities, contact Shawn at shawn@lantern.africa or on WhatsApp at ‪+254 795 561216‬. She is well connected and incredibly helpful! Otherwise, below are a few of our favorite recommendations!
Tor's Camp, Masai Mara NP

Tor's Camp, Masai Mara NP

Narok County, Kenya

Tor's has generously offered our group a 20% discount on accommodation. Please email Cameron (manager) at torscampsitemara@gmail.com to ask about package options and booking, and mention you are in Chris Swanson's group. An example 3-night package for 2 adults: Full-board accommodation in Mtoni tents: 240/night per person - 20% = $1,156 Private Safari Vehicle: 230/day x 3.5 days = $805 Flights (Wilson <> Olekiombo): 218 one way x 4 = $872 Masai Mara Park fees: 200/day per person x 6 = $1,200 Total package for 2 people: $4,033 Note that the above prices are customizable based on specific itinerary and preferences. For example, safari vehicle costs are only $115 per half day, if you'd prefer to spend the afternoon relaxing around camp. If you prefer to drive from Nairobi (~5 hours drive each way), one-way transport is $200, so the overall package price for 2 people would be ~$472 lower by driving instead of flying. Cameron could also help with flight options from Diani or Mombasa.

Kibo Safari Camp, Amboseli NP

Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Kibo Safari Camp is near Amboseli National Park. Four hour drive south of Nairobi, with beautiful views of Kilimanjaro. You can book transport and game drives directly through the Camp. We would recommend 1-2 days of game drives - Amboseli is on the smaller side so you can fit in several drives per day.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta National Park, Kenya

Anna's favorite conservancy in Kenya! Four hour drive from Nairobi. Enjoy game drives in the shadows of Mt Kenya, and fun activities e.g. nature walks, horse rides, and visiting the chimp sanctuary. Arrange high-quality lodging and game drives directly through the website. We'd recommend 1-2 days, as Ol Pejeta is also on the smaller side.

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi, Kenya

Easy day trip within the city. There are lots of easy ways to book online or we can connect you with a trusted driver.
