Visit where the real cowboys live... Ft. Worth, Texas! About 30 miles west of Irving (Las Colinas). Spend the day roaming the old stockyards, see long-horn steer, and then enjoy a refreshment in an old saloon! (This is one of Patrick's favorite local spots)
This is the major art museum located in downtown Dallas. It's about a 25 minute drive from Las Colinas and well worth it. The art collections are endless! Check out the adjoining (outdoor/indoor) Nasher Sculpture Art Museum and the Trammel & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art Museum as well! While in that area, you may want to visit the shops & restaurants on McKinney Avenue and Clyde Warren Park.
Get an amazing birds-eye view of downtown Dallas in the (slowly) revolving Reunion Tower. (Admission fees apply)
Visit the site of President John F. Kennedy's memorial and special history exhibits that chronicles that fateful day on November 22, 1963.
This fantastic museum of natural history has it all...from dinosaurs to a full collection of sparkling gems & rocks. It also has interactive exhibits for the kids as well.
