Nate and Diana’s first date was in April 2012 to see a DJ/producer at the Liacouras Center on Diana’s birthday. Only a couple days later, they were back together cliff-jumping off Peace Rock in the Schuylkill River. Over the next couple months, they hung out and were rarely seen outside of each other’s company and the rest is history. In the following years, they would travel to see that same artist twenty-eight times across the country and create lifelong friendships along the way. Their love manifested itself in other new hobbies and interests such as hiking, craft beer, thrill-seek activities, and endurance sports like running and cycling. Five apartments, two dogs, and their first home mark just some of the major milestones in both of their lives. Personal development over a decade is healthy and inevitable; Nate and Diana are just blessed to have been on that path together and have their love for each other grow with them.
When Nate decided it was time to propose, a grandiose plan was put in place involving a dinner at Chef Vola’s and being backstage for their favorite artist in Atlantic City. Italian food and music defined how much of their time together has been spent. However, 2020 happened and all of these plans were turned upside down. Instead, Nate decided to do it in Philly, the city they have lived together for the past eight years. Knowing Diana, Nate knew that a proposal involving their closest friends would be exactly what she wanted. As ex-residents of the Fairmount neighborhood, a lot of time was spent at the Art Museum steps between countless races and frequent walks with their previous dog, Callie. It made perfect sense to have that as the setting for the engagement. It was August 8th and a beautiful summer day. Nate and Di scooted over while some of her closest friends hid, one of whom is a professional photographer and crouched in the empty fountain, ready to capture the moment. Once the question was asked, the best possible answer given, everybody emerged, and champagne was popped! Meanwhile, some of Nate’s closest friends were coordinating as COVID-friendly possible of a get-together across the city along the Delaware River. Nate brought Di over for what she thought was just going to be a nice walk but was surprised with another group of close friends and family accompanied by champagne and sandwiches from one of their favorite local joints. It couldn’t have gone any better and was made possible by the people closest to them. This was the best day in both of their lives up to this point and makes them only more excited for the ones to come.
