Diana and I had a rather inauspicious start. We matched on Bumble in October 2018, and exchanged texts for a few days before I asked her out. I made reservations for 7pm at Two Urban Licks in Atlanta, and arrived at 6:45p to make sure the reservation went seamlessly when Diana arrived. Diana arrived promptly at 7pm. She was wearing a black dress that blew me away! For the rest of the night I had Thomas Rhett's "Die a Happy Man" lyrics on my mind because that black dress made it hard to breath. I digress... We were escorted to our table, and Diana sat with her back to the kitchen. I sat facing the kitchen, and the special for the night was smoked brisket. (Will be important later) We ordered wine and talked long enough where it took the waitress four visits before we even thought about ordering food. After talking for 25 minutes about life, careers, and Bumble experiences, we focused on the menu. I noticed the restaurant was getting a bit smokey, but didn't think anything of it since the special for the evening was smoked brisket. A couple minutes passed before the waitress made it back to the table, and she told us we needed to step outside on the patio for a couple minutes. As Diana stood up she turned to the kitchen to see the restaurant filled with smoke. She said to me, "Were you going to tell me the restaurant was on fire!?" I jokingly blamed it on the smoked brisket. After standing outside another 10 minutes our waitress returned letting us know the restaurant was going to close due to a kitchen fire. A feeling of fear came over me because I thought, "this is either going to go really really good or really really bad." I asked Diana, "Would you like to go elsewhere or want to call it night?" She replied with, "What do you have in mind?" Knowing the area a little bit, we decided to walk to Barcelona Wine Bar. Long story short, we were at Barcelona for 2.5 hours laughing and talking - a first date full of laughs, fun, and of course fire!
