How We Met

Diana's Version

It all started when a friend of mine wouldnt stop talking about how much I needed to meet her coworker David. She talked about him all the time for months, trying to convince me to drop in at their office and ask him on a date. She finally convinced me when she said he would take me dancing whenever I wanted, and that we had a million other things in common. So, after I sufficiently dug through his social media to make sure he wasn’t crazy, I decided to take her up on her offer. My plan was to pop over to their office on my way to work and make a quick exit, but I ended up being there almost an hour (oops)! Our first interaction was full of enough awkward giggling to last a lifetime, and our friend still pokes fun at us about that to this day. Luckily, the clumsiness didn't scare him off, and he asked me out to dinner the next week. Our first date was on October 3rd, 2017. He picked me up and took me to my favorite sushi restaurant where we ordered enough to feed a family of five. I guess we knew we would want to be there for a while. We talked about our favorite things and everything we hoped for and our biggest dreams, and we had plenty more awkward giggles in between. He invited me to go stargazing all the way out in the hills (so cheesy, right?), so we drove and sang in the car until we could see the whole milky way. It was such a weird, perfect, Rom-Com first date. I couldn't ask for anything more. And we've been attached at the hip ever since! Since that day, we've had hundreds of sushi rolls and gotten so good at swing dancing that we even won a dance-off or two. I hadn't known, when we were on our first date, that the hopes and dreams we talked about were destined to become so intertwined. And I feel so lucky that they have. I feel truly blessed to be embarking on this next chapter of life with my favorite person, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

First Dance to Now

David’s Version

We had been on dates, 3 out of 5 days that week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Sushi and the stars, Target parking lot pre bowling, (We never went bowling. I found out later that she hates it), and Indian food at her favorite restaurant. That Friday we had decided we were going to go dancing. I can still picture her in that red tank top, shawl, and her friend’s cowboy boots spinning around me all night long. The world around us blurred and all that mattered was her hands in mine. We spun, and smiled all night long and we had so much fun together we went again on Saturday night. I decided that weekend, that there was no one else I’d rather dance the night away with. I’m excited to dance through life with her hands in mine.
