Things To Do
Fort Worth is a fun city with lots to do. Its history dates back to the army's 1849 establishment of a fort on the bluff overlooking the Trinity River, now the site of the Tarrant County Courthouse. The city's motto, "Where The West Begins," has appeared in the masthead of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram since 1909. The Stockyards looks like a Western-movie set full of bars, restaurants, and live music; a cattle drive through the streets (of the city's own longhorn herd) happens twice daily, and there are rodeos every weekend of the year. Sundance Square has some very good restaurants and one of America's best jazz clubs. The Cultural District is home to several world-class museums, including the Kimbell (whose permanent collection includes Michelangelo's first painting). The botanic garden is beautiful in June, and our zoo has been named the best in the country.
