A Celebration of Love

How Diana and I met is a constant reminder of God's love and perfect timing. At the time, I was living in a youth homeless shelter. I noticed Diana first because of how beautiful she was. She would come and go, and I would always wonder why. So, after a few times of seeing her, I introduced myself. Little did I know she was a resident at the very place we met and she'd just come back to volunteer her time. I mustered up the nerve to ask her out and it's been us ever since!

On Valentine's Day 2020, we didn't have any big plans (or so I thought) as we celebrate our love every day. Nonchalantly, Mike asked if I wanted to go out for ice cream. My sweet tooth couldn't resist! In true Mike form, he makes a quick left and says, "Hey! Why don't we go on a helicopter ride?" I chuckled and said, "...what?! We can't, babe. It's Valentine's Day, it's going to be crawling with romantics, plus, it's probably overpriced and I'm sure we need reservations," but he persisted and I was so embarrassed that we were going to walk in and they'd inform us of what I already knew: "you need reservations, sir." Finally, he let me in on the secret: he had already made a reservation! Though, I NEVER THOUGHT HE'D PROPOSE! We always talked about how cheesy Valentine's Day proposals were so it never crossed my mind. After experiencing a first together, we came back down to earth to find my family in the lobby holding signs that read, "WILL YOU MARRY ME?," Mike fell to his knee, and I said "YES!" without hesitation. A few "I love yous later," we were engaged!
