THE YEAR WAS 2012... Larenz was a Drum Major, while Diamond was a member of color guard at Hamilton High School. Not once did they have interactions outside of the band, but best believe, Diamond did not go unnoticed by Larenz. After Larenz graduated, he sent a friend request via Instagram in which they could keep up with one another passively. After six years (2014 to 2020), Larenz and Diamond went from unanswered comments in the early years to full conversations. On July 5th, 2020, Diamond posted her love languages and it just so happened Larenz and the Tolson's did their love languages that same day. This was the conversation that set up the events leading them to their futures being forever intertwined.
THE YEAR WAS 2021... Diamond planned a triple date for them and their close friends to see the movie "Halloween Kills" and dinner at "Maggiano's" afterward. The best part is that it was at one of her favorite outdoor malls, The Grove, that has this romantic water show and happened to be the location of their very first date as a couple. Little did Diamond know that she was laying the foundation of her very own engagement. It just so happened that the day before, they had celebrated Hamilton's Homecoming together with Larenz as the director of the very marching band they met in. Larenz also secretly added a reservation to include more friends and family without touching the original reservation made by Diamond. While the movie was ending, Larenz ran to the bathroom really nervous while he waited for a friend to get his camera equipment from the car. Eager to kill time, they took photos and joked around while the cameraman was getting set. Larenz finally got the text saying friends and family were in place at the bridge in front of the water show, meaning it was go time. The group walked over to the bridge and Diamond was surprised to see her Mother and Grandparents waiting for them. She saw their friend with his camera equipment and immediately bursted into tears. Larenz had another friend bring a small speaker to play Diamond's favorite song " It Will Rain" by "Bruno Mars" (Her favorite artist). Larenz then got down on one knee as they both sobbed tears of joy. Larenz popped the question and the rest is history!
