My Dreamy Cruise Proposalâ€ïž
We met more than 5 years back at a friendâs birthday party. There was an instant connection and we spoke to each other almost the entire evening. It was a night that we now remember as âShots & Friesâ because I kept making him eat fries and he kept bringing us shots to drink! After that day we became friends and soon became best friends! In Dec 2017, we went on a trip to Miami with all our friends and thatâs when it became obvious that we liked each other. He told me on New Yearâs Eve at a Cruise party that he liked me and I knew that I liked him a lot too. We officially started dating on Jan 12th, 2018.
Dhruv always knew that he had to WOW me with a surprise proposal! Even though there was no surprise that I would say YES! According to Dhruv, he initially wanted to propose in June 2020 but the pandemic delayed things for us and he finally proposed on September 12, 2020. Dhruv had a perfect idea and he wanted to recreate the day he had first told me that he liked me (New Yearâs Cruise 2017). He organized a surprise Yacht Proposal and we had our family and all our close friends who could be there with us. He also made sure our parents and best friends who are not in Chicago were able to join on Zoom. On the day of the proposal, it was supposed to rain all day and I had no idea about Dhruvâs plan. My sister insisted we go out for Brunch so we went out to eat, we had a good time and at the end, she handed me a card. The card was from Dhruv and he had written on the card that it was finally âThe Dayâ. I got ready for the surprise and my sister told me to close my eyes and sit in a cab. I didnât know where we were going but I was so excited. We then walked towards the location with my eyes were closed holding my cousin and my sister's hands. Then finally I open my eyes and I enter this Yacht and I walk up the stairs and there he was standing there behind a âMARRY MEâ sign and I was truly speechless. Everything was perfect, him, the decor and everyone I loved were around us. Dhruv had also hired an amazing photographer for us so we had an engagement shoot on the Yacht after the very emotional proposal! The beautiful proposal was followed by a dance party on the Yacht with the Chicago skyline in the background. It was supposed to rain the entire day but thankfully it stopped raining right before the proposal and the weather cleared up for us. It turned out to be the most perfect, beautiful, and gorgeous day!
Our wedding was supposed to be in India on Nov 22nd, 2020. Around late July we decided that we would have to push the India wedding due to the pandemic. It was very disappointing but we wanted our friends and family to be safe. In October we decided to keep our âIndia Wedding Dateâ as the day for our Legal Wedding in Chicago. We wanted to live in the moment and make the day special. We decided to hire an officiant and do a small Legal Ceremony at home. The ceremony was small, personal, and very special. We said our vows to each other and celebrated the day that would have been âOur wedding dayâ. And now finally after years of waiting for it! The most special date for us now will be March 27th, 2022. The Day of our Traditional Indian Wedding Ceremony. The day I (Vibhuti) have dreamt of since I was a little girl and the day Dhruv has dreamt of since the day he met me ;) So excited to see you all thereâŠâŠ
