Maldonado's Pizzeria
This was a favorite of Denise growing up in Los Altos/Mountain View area. Get their Cheesy Bread! If you went to UC Berkeley these are a close second to "Cheese Sticks" from West Coast Pizza.
Super Duper Burgers
If you're a burger fan like Denise and Jonathan are, check out this local burger spot. We recommend getting any burger, the free pickles on the side, and of course, an ice cream for dessert.
Marco Polo
Jonathan LOVES ice cream! And even though technically it's gelato, he's not going to quibble on details when the dessert is this tasty! They specialize in unique Asian inspired flavors, just like Jonathan 😜.
Charmaine's
This is one of our favorite places for a great cocktail and a beautiful view. It's one of the few outdoor rooftop bars the city has to offer. Entrance is through the Proper Hotel.
Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar
Located inside the Fairmont Hotel, Tonga Room has the best ambiance, one of a kind libations, Polynesian bites and an actual lagoon complete with intermittent thunder, rainstorms and a floating band! This a top rated bar in SF and does not take reservations for parties of less than 10— so be prepared to wait to get in.
Lizzie's Starlight
This lounge is a popular destination for dancing and one of Jonathan's favorite places to DJ! There are DJs playing here Wednesday through Sunday. Located inside the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, take the elevators to the 21st floor and get ready for the views, cocktails and yummy food.
Wine Tasting in Sonoma
You can't go wrong with wine tasting when you're in the area. Some of the world's best wines are right here in California. Denise has some recommendations for wineries: Kunde (Sonoma) & Mazzoco (Healdsburg) for the wines. If you're a first timer to Napa, Castello di Amorosa (beautiful castle) & V. Sattui (great for groups) are both located in St. Helena and are ready to glam up your social media timeline.
California Academy of Sciences
During normal 9-5 hours it's a typical science museum for the whole family. But, if you are in town on a Thursday night, you should check out "Nightlife" which happens from 6-10pm. The museum becomes 21 and over, to let you enjoy looking at fossils while drinking a delicious beer.
Mount Tamalpais
This is a great hiking place for the adventurers out there! The views of the entire Bay Area & Pacific Ocean are stunning. Dipsea Trail is tough but not to be missed!
Golden Gate Bridge
Whether you drive, bike or walk this bridge—this is a must if you have not been to San Francisco. Follow Highway 101 all the way there. Please note there are tolls on all bridges so be prepared to fork over a few bucks to see them!
