We're Getting Married!

Our story truly began with the Lord, as it was our individual relationships with Him that laid the foundation for our love. We often say it started with two, and when we came together in faith, it became three. This journey, rooted in Christ, began the day we first met at our church youth group. We were both so young, unaware of the incredible path that lay ahead. From the very first moment, we were drawn to different unique qualities of each other, Zuri for his kind heart and the warmth he exuded, and Dez for a loud, kind social butterfly. As time passed, our friendship blossomed. We shared countless moments throughout middle school to high school, including every Friday, when we would go to FCA meetings. I’ll admit, I might have dodged a few of those gatherings, but Zuri always found a way to entice me with the promise of food, and somehow, I always ended up there! After graduation, we discovered we were both attending the same university. Our bond deepened as we became best friends, sharing our lives, our struggles, and enjoying meals together. We attended various church events, never considering that our friendship might evolve into something more. We were both wholeheartedly chasing God’s heart, believing that our relationship with Him was paramount. However, one particularly tough day, I found myself crying alone, longing for solitude. Just then, my phone rang—it was Zuri. In that moment, I felt a divine nudge, knowing that the Lord had sent him to comfort me. Without hesitation, he said, “We’re going to pray right now.” That moment changed everything for us. I realized then that he was the one I wanted by my side for life. I envisioned my future with him—a future where I could see our children having a father like him. As our feelings blossomed, we eventually confessed our love for one another after so many years of friendship. It felt as though the stars had aligned perfectly; we were truly meant for each other, our hearts having been prepared for this beautiful union. As we look ahead, we are filled with excitement for the future and the mission that lies before us. Our journey has only just begun, and I can’t wait to see where God leads us! We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our family and friends who have stood by us through life’s challenges and celebrated our joys. Thank you for being an integral part of our story.
