Desmond and Jenny are known as high school sweethearts. They first noticed one another in 2013 while briefly passing each other during class periods. Desmond describes Jenny as “the girl wearing overalls.” Jenny remembers Desmond being “the new kid with a good haircut.” Desmond, being the gentlemen that he is, would offer to walk Jenny to class, but she would refuse. She’d always walk with her friends instead. During the summer of 2014, they went to watch “The Purge: Anarchy.” After that, it all fell into place. Friends and families were gathered together to celebrate Jenny graduating from the University of Arizona. As guest arrived, Jenny sensed something was off. She’d ask around, everyone would respond “No, everything is okay. It’s just you.” As the night continued, everything was going well. Suddenly, Jenny’s mom, Azucena and her oldest cousin, Jeru, grabbed Jenny saying there is a surprise for her. Covered her eyes with a handkerchief and stood by her side. Out of no where, Desmond and Jenny’s first song came on, “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett. Everyone gathered in a circle around the couple. When the handkerchief came off, Jenny’s brother, Anthony, was holding roses in front of her. He responds “Turn around.” As Jenny turns, Desmond is down on one knee. At that moment, it was like everything melted away and it was just the two of them. Everyone came towards the happy couple, congratulating them with hugs and best wishes.
