In Nigerian culture, the engagement ceremony is a joyful, traditional celebration where the families of the bride and groom formally meet and bless the couple’s union. It includes cultural customs like gift exchanges, prayers, and symbolic gestures—such as the groom’s family “proposing” with honor and the bride accepting in beautiful traditional attire. It’s vibrant, meaningful, and filled with music, dancing, and love—a true celebration of heritage and family.
RSVPs for all events should be completed by August 15th.
To allow all guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we kindly request no children. Although we love your little ones, they tend to not love weddings. Thank you for making arrangements ahead of time!
Please arrive Friday, September 26th at 6pm for the Nigerian Engagement Cocktail hour. The wedding ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30pm. This means we no Naija time! And no CP time! Note: Please give yourself time to find parking and the event spaces. These events are taking place in downtown Indianapolis in hotels. If you park five minutes before the start, you will be VERY late.
We are requesting semi-formal wedding attire for the date of the wedding. This includes tuxes and suits, gowns and cocktail dresses. For the Nigerian Engagement we encourage you to wear cocktail attire and the colors blue and white!
Parking at the JW Marriott is pricey and runs around $50/day for valet or self park. There is a parking garage across the street for more affordable pricing. There is also street parking several blocks away, and would require several extra minutes to find and walk down to the venue. Parking at the Hampton Inn (where the Nigerian Engagement will take place) is $10/day. This is approx a .5 mile or 11 minute walk from the JW Marriott and vice versa.
We will have transportation available from the JW Marriott to the Hampton Inn and back the night of the Nigerian Engagement. We will also provide transportation from the Hampton Inn to the JW Marriott the evening and night of the wedding.
With our short engagement period, we understand if you're not able to celebrate with us in person. If you'd like to bless our union with a gift, we do have a registry. It is not required, but we are thankful for anything the Lord puts on your heart to bless us with.
