Shalon's version: June 2015, Scarlet (Dexter's step-mom) invited me to their house to interview her and a few other ladies. I met Dexter in their basement, and I knew, that he knew, he was cute... so I "played it cool" and asked for Scarlet as he in all his charmingness tried to "woo" me at the steps (he actually was just trying to show me where to go) but as he insists "I dismissed him" (I actually was just nervous b/c he was super cute and besides, like a true southern belle, I was more focused on work than boys ;-)) His father, Wendell, later insisted that I meet his son who was helping serve mimosas, so I obliged...BOOM! turns out his son is the cutie pie I had "dismissed"earlier and low and behold was prince of the castle! I went ahead and did the small talk thing and waited for him to ask for my number. Buuut, he didn't...that day anyway. Thank God Scarlet and I were friends on FB and just so happen she tagged D Brown in a photo a few days later. I was confident that he'd accept my friend request and shimmy his way into my DM (see what i did there) and of course he did—we went on our first date to CRU a few days after our basement encounter and took a stroll in Old Fourth Ward Park (where we would later take engagement photos) and well...we've literally been inseparable ever since. Dexter's version: Well when I saw Shalon come down the stairs of my parents house, I knew that there was something about her but I couldn't put my finger on it. But like she said, I was there to work so let me be nice to this young lady that my parents invited over here today. Low and behold I was dismissed from the jump just off offering her a mimosa (insert shocked emoji). Ok, “here you go ma'am, Scarlet is upstairs to the left" Enjoy. Fast forward. The same young tenderoni shows up on Facebook friend requests because she was looking for ya boy and I admit it, I was happy to see her there. I was able to set up a date at CRU Lounge, we got to rapping and that's how it happened.
