1981, we met at a card game, two strangers with an immediate attraction for one another. Our encounter was the essence of love at first sight. After playing a few hands, we engaged in a few pleasant words then wandered off into an empty bedroom; it was clear we wanted some private time alone. The door closed behind us when the unexpected happened-the doorknob fell off and we literally found ourselves trapped! Ironically the thought of escaping or pounding on the door to be rescued didn't seem to matter. If anything, everyone else was trapped outside of this timeless moment we shared within four walls. Our time was spent laying on a small bed, talking as if we've known each other for 30 years with no expectations. Unbeknownst to us, this was our official first date. Our circle of love took shape on that day, one with no beginning or ending. We entered the room single and emerged out a couple, while navigating life and love as teenagers before parting ways on the best of terms, two years later. Our circle of love incomplete, but a seed was planted with our hearts and souls. Through the blessing of social media, a re-connection was destined in 2015. Thirty-two years later, via a simple friend request sent from one state and accepted in another. Within a matter of months, we found ourselves in the same state together again, the love we shared timeless. The proposal was on June's 50th birthday. A quiet gathering at home with family, everyone formed a circle around June and took turns expressing appreciation for her. Me being the last one, her back was facing me. When she turned to me, I was 3 feet tall on one knee with a ring and arm extended and four words. WILL YOU MARRY ME? After letting out a scream of joy, June's answer was YES! The seed we planted with our hearts and soul has now blossomed into everlasting love. Our circle of love is now complete to be celebrated with you all, OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, on our wedding day May 14, 2021!
