Going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married!

Thanks to Tinder, we had our first date the Friday night before spring break, March 6th, 2020, at Sam's campus apartment where we watched Tommy Wiseau's, The Room. At the end of the night, Kate's cheeks hurt from smiling so much while Sam drove to Grand Rapids with a big smile on his face all the way there.

Sam proposed during his fireworks show on the 4th of July of 2025, 30 minutes after he sprained his ankle from running away from fireworks beforehand. It was a beautiful moment where time went by so slowly and the past 5 years together replayed before Kate's eyes. She cried for an hour straight afterwards. The newly engaged couple had their first outing at Urgent Care the next morning for Sam's ankle where he wore a proud smile.
