FINALLY!

As most of you know, Nick and I met through a mutual friend in 2006 at Gay Oaks Park in Arbutus. Anyone who knows him knows he LIVED at that park for years. He insists that I don’t know if that is where we actually met, but trust me, it is! We all hung out together frequently, meaning my friend and I went up there to watch him, Patton, Cody & Matt Duffy, play basketball. In March 2007, my mom, my sister, and I moved in the big blue single family house on Dolores. Nick and I started hanging out frequently as we lived 7 houses away from each other, and from then on he was stuck with me!

After badgering him for over a year about how long it was taking for him to propose, he finally did it. On vacation in Oahu, Hawaii, we went on a sunrise hike to the Lanikai Pillbox on the other side of the island. We woke up at 3:50 AM to drive an hour, and get to the top of the mountain before 5:57 AM for sunrise. Took us about 30-40 minutes of steep walking. Once at the top, Nick leans to me and tells me he wants to wait for it to clear out so he can take a picture without a bunch of people in the background. Thinking nothing of it, I agreed to wait as I was just enjoying the view. Eventually Nick decided it was time, and told me to ask someone to take our picture. He set up the GoPro ( I had no idea what the point was at the time) and I asked a guy standing in front of us to take the picture. He takes a few, and Nick then asks him to take a few more and gets down on one knee (like an old man, might I add). I immediately start to cry, and scream “are you joking?!” He says “Dev, you are my best friend. I love you. I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this.” He then pulls the ring out of his pocket, and I cry “YES!” Then looked at the ring and cried some more. I will never forget it!! <3
