We're getting married!

In December 2015, fate (and a dating app) brought Devonta and Jason together. After a few online conversations, they met in person, and from that very first date, things felt natural. It was easy—effortless, even. Their time together was filled with laughter, a shared love of food, and a natural rhythm that made every moment feel right. What began as simple dates quickly deepened, and by March 2016, they made their relationship official. The following month, they took their first trip together—a quick getaway to Puerto Rico to soak up the sun and escape the stresses of working in the city. Before long, a toothbrush appeared in Jason's bathroom, closet space was being shared, and an unspoken understanding settled between them: Harlem would be home. Their friends noticed the changes too—Jason seemed more relaxed, and Devonta grew into himself more than ever. From the beginning, their relationship was built on love, respect, and a deep appreciation for the life they were creating together. In July 2016, for Devonta’s birthday, they embarked on their first international trip—backpacking through Italy, from Rome to Cinque Terre, with nothing but backpacks. That journey was more than just a vacation; it strengthened their bond and solidified their shared love of travel. It was the first of many adventures to come. Since then, they have explored over 18 countries together and counting—from Peru to Morocco to Japan. Beyond their travels, their years together have been filled with unforgettable moments shared with loved ones. In their spare time, they love eating their way through New York City's endless restaurant scene, exploring museums and exhibitions, and simply enjoying time at home together. And on December 15, 2023, during the holidays, Devonta created one more unforgettable moment—getting down on one knee to propose in front of his grandmother, mother, brother, and niece as they trimmed the Christmas tree. With a big smile on his face, Jason said "Yes." It was a joyful surprise for everyone, and the next day, at their annual holiday party, they shared the exciting news with their closest friends. As they began planning their wedding, they considered everything—an elopement, a destination wedding, a fancy venue—but nothing felt more right than exchanging vows in the home they’ve built together. Now, they’re eagerly counting down the days until Saturday, May 31, 2025, when they will say I do in front of an intimate gathering of family and friends—marking the beginning of their greatest adventure yet.
