Our Love Story

The Invisible String

Devon and Beau met at Charlie's Bar in Somers Point, NJ over Christmas break in 2019. Beau was at the bar with his best friend, while Devon was at a table close by with a group of girlfriends. Beau boldly approached the table, greeting familiar faces from high school while simultaneously making his way to the inner part of the table where Devon was seated. He confirmed that she was living in Baltimore at the time and added that he lived not too far away in Washington, DC. He then handed Devon his phone to add her number so they could grab dinner sometime. Within a month, they had their first date at San Lorenzo in Washington, DC. Beau called Devon the next day to ask a crazy question: "Hey I know we just went on our first date yesterday, but do you maybe want to meet my entire family at a Penn Basketball game in Philadelphia next weekend?" They began dating a few short weeks later, followed by being quarantined together as COVID struck and Devon's Master's program was on hold. By Summer 2020, Devon moved into Beau's DC apartment. Devon finished her graduate program virtually, so they moved back home to OCNJ where they lived on the third floor of Beau's grandmother's triplex. While there, they got their fluffy fur baby, Baron. The three of them spent 2 years in OCNJ, before moving to Bethesda, MD in February 2023 for Beau's work. They have been living in Bethesda ever since and love being able to walk to their favorite restaurants and always being stopped by strangers to say how cute Baron is. Fast forward to June 20, 2025, Beau proposed to Devon while on a boat ride through the waterfront of The Wharf in DC. They have been in wedding planning mode ever since and cannot wait to get married (Baron included), surrounded by all of their favorite people! All along, they have always felt there was an invisible string connecting their paths long before they even knew it. This was evident when a family member found (on the day of their 5th year anniversary) a newspaper clipping from 1965 of both of our grandmothers sitting together at a church in OCNJ.
