How We Met

October 12, 2019

I met Joe for the first time in a local brewery in north Longmont called Cyclehops. After hitting it off over coffee and yummy churro waffles, we realized we had a lot in common! We were both teachers, both grew up in Longmont, CO, and both lived in the same neighborhood. It was crazy we hadn't met before! Joe asked me on a second date for the very next day to a haunted corn maze at Anderson Farms where we had our first kiss by a bonfire. After a few weeks of dating, we made it official at the 2019 CU Homecoming football game and have never looked back.

The Proposal

08/30/2020 He Put a Ring On It

Joe was the best at planning the proposal. I had absolutely no idea that it was coming! It was the last weekend of August, and Joe had texted me that morning asking if I would like to walk around McIntosh Lake around 7PM. We had done this many times before in our relationship, so I didn't think anything of it. It was purely a stroke of luck that I decided to do "Self Care Sunday", a routine I had started years ago but hadn't done recently for many reasons. I did my hair, I shaved my legs, and I even did my nails! That evening I was attending a virtual birthday party for my best friend, Alea. We were playing JackBox games and the first one ran a little past 7:00. I asked Joe if we could play another game and he said no! That if we did we would miss the sunset. This was weird, because Joe is always up for more games! But I said goodbye and off we went. I noticed Joe was acting weird, a little nervous. As we neared the bank of the lake where dogs love to swim and play, he led me by the water. At the waters edge he handed me a letter he had written--which is something he's done for me our whole relationship. After I read the letter, I saw Joe get on one knee and I gasped! No way! Joe asked me to marry him with tears in his eyes and a beautiful multi-stoned ring in his hand.
