I wasn't expecting that...

One of Chris's favorite stories to tell is how our first interaction involved Ally hitting her in the face with a dodge ball. Chris was sitting on the bleachers during a pep rally, and Ally, naturally, was competing in a faculty vs students dodge ball game. Ally wasn't throwing the ball fast enough overhand, so she decided to pitch the ball across the gym...right into Chris's face! Ally ran over to apologize to Chris, but quickly returned to the game so she wouldn't get knocked out of the game. From there, Chris and Ally found themselves working together quite often with students. Quickly, a strong friendship developed, and before they realized it, they were dating and they didn't even know it!

The night started with Chris thinking that Ally was angry with her. After hanging picture frames (which is why Chris thought Ally was mad), Ally cooked dinner...almost completely. Ally misjudged the chicken and thus, they were having a vegetarian meal. Nevertheless, Ally and Chris enjoyed dinner on the patio in their hoodies and Crocs (with socks). After figuring out why the patio lights wouldn't turn on, Ally lit the Tiki torches and put on a familiar playlist. Their song, "I Wasn't Expecting That" came on and Chris asked Ally to dance. This was VERY convenient considering this was a part of Ally's planned proposal. Ally and Chris danced and Chris became confused when the second song came on. Chris did not recognize the song, "All I Ask of You" (from Phantom of the Opera) until a few minutes into the song. As soon as Chris realized what song it was, that's when Ally got down on one knee. After lots of tears and laughs (and saying, YES!) Chris and Ally danced once more to "Marry Me" by Train.
