Our Theme is Victorian Steampunk

What is Steampunk and you want me to wear what?

To put it simply it is Victorian meets Technology. If you google Steampunk this is one of the definitions you will find: A genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology. The essence of steampunk is homage to vintage fashion with a modern, sassy twist. If you have not already googled Steampunk for yourself, I would suggest that you do. The art and clothing are interesting and hard for me to personally express with words. We are requesting that everyone attending the wedding attempt to dress in this style. If you are struggling to come up with something think turn of the 20th century Victorian. Dress as formally as you want, but dress for the weather, cotton is always a good choice. We encourage as much enthusiasm and detail as you would like to put into this theme. Do your best we love you no matter how you show up. The grounds are expansive and if the weather permits the wedding ceremony will be outdoors so wear flat shoes.

How We Met

We Both Swiped Right...Tinder Sparked Our Love Story

After years of online and offline dating singles sometimes stop and ask themselves...Should I Tinder? Why not I thought as I lazily build a tiny Tinder profile on my iphone. I included all the cutest and most fun pictures of myself and then wrote an overly detailed description of what I was looking for. Wait! What am I looking for? Love, of course, but who believes in love anymore? I just had my 35th birthday and after scoffing at the improbability of my perfect match or "soulmate" showing up I decided to just list everything I was interested in, in hopes of at least a fun date or new friends. Then the Tinder adventure began. After a few not so impressive conversations and couple less impressive dates, I arranged to have lunch with Joe. I did not have high hopes. I was dressed in my business casual office wear and he was dressed like he had just stepped out of the movie, The Crow. Long black trench coat, black shirt, black pants and work boots. Ug I thought, lets do this. I brought him to a little Soup and Sandwich shop around the corner. I got my usual salad and did not wait for him to even attempt to pay. Our conversation was about our ex's and pretty much everything you should not talk about on your first date. No need to build up my delightful attributes so I told the worst stories, the stalker, drunk texting, crazy lady stories. Why play games? I am too old for that. This Emo guy does not seem to frighten easily. He is smiling and rolling with my best worse girlfriend stories. He is kind of cute and charming. He tells me some of his bad stories as well. I kind of like him but don't really know it yet.

How We Fell in Love

Netflix and Chill

We continue to text and I find our banter entertaining. I unexpectedly got myself stranded in Philadelphia one weekend and he innocently offered to come pick me up. How sweet, I thought, and nice of him to offer. I took the bus home to prove my strength as an independent women. Roar!!! I don't need to be rescued! After I returned to Syracuse we set up a hang out, "Netflix's and Chill. After many movies and adventures we are looking forward to our wedding day.
