Does it always have to be love at first sight? For us, it was far from that; not that we didn't like each other as people before we got together; that's not it at all! We just were focused on our individual paths, our individual relationships with Christ, and our careers. We may have been so focused on our individual paths that we never had considered our paths crossing. For the longest time, Devin was the boy in the youth group who was a dedicated firefighter who loved his family and friends and loved to volunteer his time, specifically in the A/V team and worship team at our church. Trinity was the bubbly cheerleader who was focused on school, youth group, fostering friendships, and volunteering in local organizations. The beginning of our relationship was not a typical "we locked eyes and the rest is history" kind of story. Rather, we both started to hang out in the same group in the Summer of 2014 outside of youth group events. From there, Devin had realized that he had a growing list of must see movies that I had not seen. It all began with trying to mark off movies from the list, but I was not as interested as Devin was in the movies and fell asleep for a good amount of them. Devin and I began volunteering our time together that summer and started to spend more and more time together. Neither of us had been actively looking for relationships throughout high school, but instead were focused on our individual careers being formed to support our future families. Who knew that all of that time and energy being put into our families would actually preparing our hearts for each other.
