Travel & Things To Do

Travel Note

When to Get Here?

The Ceremony and Reception will be held at The Makers Son in Los Alamos, CA on May 25th from 4-9pm. We recommend arriving on May 22nd or 23rd and staying until May 26th.

Travel Note

How to Get Here?

Santa Ynez Valley has little to no public transportation. Ubers and Lyfts are limited as well. We highly recommend carpooling and if you will be flying in, splitting a car rental. For anyone that has AAA, Hertz will waive their young driver fee if that is an issue. As we get closer to the date we can arrange to have shuttles to and from the venue the night of.

Where to Stay?

We recommend staying somewhere in the Santa Ynez Valley. Buellton provides great proximity to all of our favorite things and is more affordable. Solvang will be more pricey but it is a beautiful town with lots of shopping and touristy things nearby. Santa Ynez is the small town Devin's parents live in and still offers some great places to eat and shop. Los Alamos is a small "western" style town where our venue is located. Santa Maria and Lompoc are also great options but they are a bit further from the venue. They will have the most options for chain hotels. Recommended hotels in Buellton: Hampton Inn and Suites Santa Ynez Valley Marriot Sideways Inn (from the movie Sideways) Flying Flags (cool glamping cabins and camping spots) Recommended hotels in Solvang: The Vinland The Winston The Landsby Hotel Corque Hotel Ynez New Haven Inn Recommended hotels in Santa Ynez: Chumash Casino Resort The Genevieve Recommended hotel in Los Alamos: Skyview Los Alamos Follow the link below to some hotels offering special rates!

Once You're Here!

The Santa Ynez Valley is a beautiful place. We recommend visiting Solvang for a Danish themed day with lots of shops and nice restaurants. Los Olivos is a close one stop shop for all your Beer and Wine Tasting needs. In Los Olivos, some of our favorites are Figueroa Mountain Brewing, Stolpman Vineyards, Carhartt Family Wines, Epiphany Cellars, Story of Soil, and Andrew Murray. One of our family's favorite places in the area is Jalama Beach. It is about 40 minutes outside of Lompoc and has the best burgers. Lake Cachuma is a nice area to go for a relaxing walk with great views. There are amazing restaurants scattered throughout the Santa Ynez Valley, some of our favorites are Brothers at the Red Barn, SY Kitchen, Panino, Peasants Feast, Industrial Eats, Belle's (Michelin star) and Ramen Kotori. We recommend making reservations for most restaurants and wine tastings since Santa Ynez Valley is a popular place this time of year.

Flight

Santa Barbara Municipal Airport

Flying into Santa Barbara is the most ideal since it is about 30 minutes to the Santa Ynez Valley.

Flight

Los Angeles International Airport

LAX is a large airport with the most direct flights, however, it is the furthest and there will be a lot of traffic.

Flight

Long Beach International Airport

Long Beach is not as stressful but will add about 30 minutes to the drive to Santa Barbara County.
