Dating back to the 12th century, the estate was home to the McMorrough Kavanagh family, descendants of Celtic kings. A 15th-century castle once stood here but was lost to a fire in 1645. Rising from its ashes, the current Tudor-style house was crafted to reflect the resilience and legacy of the Kavanagh family. In the 19th century, the 10th Earl commissioned renowned architects to add beautiful Tudor-Revival touches, blending old and new into the stunning home we see today. With its historic charm, breathtaking gardens, and rich heritage, Borris House offers a warm glimpse into Ireland’s past – a truly magical setting to celebrate our future together.
