what to wear
i think it's fun to dress on theme, so i collected a bunch of references for what i think would be nice to wear at shaker village, for different shapes and ages, but they are JUST IDEAS! https://www.pinterest.com/devinbrowne/shaker-village-packing-list/ most important thing is that you're comfortable.
the rehearsal dinner is on a riverboat, and it's casual: stripes, gingham, sundresses, skirts, shorts, rompers, jeans, handkerchiefs, etc. are all great. whatever steamboat romantic means to you.
for the wedding and reception, we're borrowing our friends jon and nicoles' wedding aesthetic of barn fancy (or square dance fancy). dresses should have sleeves or straps (strapless dresses are a bad idea for dancing). small floral or ditsy floral patterns are a nice nod to the area, so are tiered dresses/skirts. for your feet, boots or small heels are great to dance in, better than flats. sandals should be avoided. if men want to wear ties or vests, that would be great.
