In February 2013, Eddie saw Devin across the room at a friend's party. He didn't get up the nerve to come to talk to her. Two weeks later Devin and her college roommates were having a party. Eddie was friends with one of Devin's roommates and was excited to attend the party to try and see Devin. When Eddie walked into the party he beelined for Devin, who was standing in her kitchen. In typical Eddie fashion, he made some sarcastic comment to Devin, and she gave it back. They were instantly smitten and spent the next several weeks spending every waking moment together. A few weeks later, they made it official.

Eddie and Devin have been together for a long time. Over the last year, Devin became impatient and kept bugging Eddie about getting engaged. Eddie was working up a master proposal plan when COVID hit. He told Devin "all the ring stores were closed," so she would relax. It worked, and Devin had no idea it was coming. On May 20th, 2020 Eddie planned a COVID-style date night for the two of them. He got a bottle of wine, dinner from Devin's favorite Italian spot, and drove her up to Lookout Mountain for a "socially-distanced" date. While watching the sunset over the mountains and sharing fond memories of their travel adventures, Eddie got down on one knee and asked Devin to marry him. She is pretty sure she said yes, but they both blacked out a little. She said yes multiple times later on-- just in case!
