It all began with two people swiping right on Bumble. Since this particular app requires the girl to message first, Carly went bold with a GIF of a whale breaching with the words "Whale Hello There" written across the top. Luckily Devin appreciated the humorous opener. After a few days of chatting they went on their first date. Devin picked up Carly from her apartment (she does not advocate giving out your home address to strangers you meet on the internet, but hey she had a good feeling about this one and spoiler alert- it works out) and they went on a nature walk. Fast forward and the two have accomplished so much together over the past 4 years. Devin landed his dream job working for Novato Fire and Carly opened her own wedding planning business. They have started traveling, bought a home and love their two adorable pups. They are so excited for the next chapter and all it has in store!
Devin planned a birthday/anniversary surprise getaway weekend. He told Carly to pack a bag and be ready in the morning. It started with meeting some friends for beers before heading to the mystery location. They arrive in Sausalito, a beautiful little town right on the bay. Devin secured a room that had a balcony right on the water. It was gorgeous! They had a wonderful Italian dinner and then enjoyed the sunset on the balcony in their pajamas with wine and chocolate. A perfect Carly night. The next morning it was time to do a little shopping. They hit the outlets and had a delicious seafood lunch after. Then SURPRISE it was time to move to another location. They got back in the car and shortly pulled into Cavallo Point. CP is a beautiful hotel with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. They checked in and headed straight to the spa to enjoy the pool. Devin suggested they leave the pool so they could have time to do a hike he scoped out before their dinner reservation. At first Carly didn't want to leave and thought they had plenty of time before dinner so she tried to drag out their departure. Eventually she felt like she didn't want to spoil the plans he clearly worked so hard on, so she grabbed her stuff and they went back to the room to change. They began the walk on the trail that took them through the redwoods to the top of a cliff. They reminisced on all the past birthday/anniversaries they have celebrated and how each one has been so special and how much their relationship has grown. As they reached the top there was an unobstructed view of the Golden Gate and the bay. It was truly breathtaking. Carly asked to take a selfie and when she turned around Devin was on one knee. *cue the tears* After a few too many "Oh my god is this really happening" it was a clear YES. A photographer (and friend of Carly) popped out of the trees. They spent some time taking some photos with the incredible backdrop and of the ring (the true stunner of this whole event). When the photos were done they went back to the room and Facetimed their parents and siblings. Everyone was so excited to hear the news. It was truly a weekend filled to the brim with love.
