We met back in June of 2013, Devin was in need of some girl advice and one of our mutual friends had asked Alysha if she'd meet them at Adams Road Elementary School to give him some. Luckily Alysha's advice wasn't that good. Fast forward to 2015, Alysha and Devin had become the best of friends over the past couple years. They tried every sushi restaurant in the lower mainland, adventured everywhere you could think of; they always ended up in Fort Langley or at Crescent Beach. But above all of that, they always talked about anything and everything together. From baseball watching, to group hangouts, to double dating, they always remained best friends. Unfortunately, life got a little complicated and some curve balls got thrown in, and they went their separate ways in January of 2016. Devin moved around a few times and ended up in Victoria, and the two didn't talk for 5 whole years. In the end of 2019 Alysha's mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer (thankfully a survivor because she's a warrior!) but Devin had heard about this from one of their mutual friends again and decided to reach out to Alysha in March of 2020 to see how she was doing. Alysha was of course shocked to hear from him, but when they talked it had felt like no time had passed at all, even though years went by. The two continued to live their lives, Devin was living on the Island, and Alysha was still in her hometown. COVID-19 had happened and they checked in on each other from time to time but had their own lives and commitments to live. A few years later, in March of 2022, life had more twists and turns that had happened, and had moved back home, the previous September. Out of the blue, she got a call from Devin and the two hadn't spoke in a long time. Devin had said he was coming to the mainland for the weekend and wondered if he could see her and asked if she was still in a relationship. Alysha wasn't anymore, and neither was Devin and it seemed like maybe the universe really was on their side. They saw each other that weekend, and talked for hours and caught up. They both finally realized that they truly had something special and couldn't let each other get away again. They had always had such a deep connection but until having to live their lives without each other, they didn't know that pain & sadness. They began to spend more and more time together, and eventually Devin had made the decision to move back here to the mainland to be closer to his family who already lived here, shout out to Russ + Lori, and me. One thing led to another, and on May 27th 2022, Devin finally asked Alysha to be his girlfriend. He took her back to where they first met, Adams Road Elementary, all those years ago, and had tea lights lit that spelt "Be mine?" An epic time dating and growing deeper in their friendship. Moving in together in their South Surrey condo. Becoming an Auntie & Uncle to their niece, Vaeda who we just love so much! Going on trips, of course adventuring, and many visits to Fort Langley which was always a special place to them. Finally on June 2nd of 2023, Devin took Alysha back to Fort Langley, and led her down a path full of candles and hundreds of rose petals, Devin got down on one knee and asked Alysha to be his wife! (FINALLY) And now we cannot wait to get to celebrate our love story with all of you who mean so much to us on Saturday, September 7th!
