What started as a random interaction at O'Kelly's Sports Bar in Mount Pleasant, MI, and a request to follow each other on Snapchat has turned into 4 years of laughter, long-distance love, and loyalty. On February 4, 2022, Donna went out to have a girls' night at O'Kelly's. Little did she know that this night would change her life forever. Standing by the pool table, minding her own business, she noticed a man lock eyes with her from across the bar and start walking her way. "Sorry to interrupt, I just had to come over here to tell you that you look absolutely stunning this evening. My name is Devin. It's a pleasure to meet you." After the shockwave passed and Donna snapped back into reality, she expressed that she was, in fact, seeing someone else at the time and wasn't interested. So Devin left... Then, on April 9, 2022, newly single Donna found herself back at O'Kelly's (not shocking considering she worked there). She found some close friends to say hi to and was explaining her recent 5-day-old break-up when one of them said, "Have you met my friend Devin?" She moved aside, and there he was; the same man, in the same bar, with the same confidence as 2 months prior. After talking and hanging out for a couple of hours, Donna impatiently waited for Devin to ask for her number and took matters into her own hands. Thus, their Snapchat streak was born. (p.s. Devin didn't ask for Donna's number until June....) As the friendship developed long-distance, with Donna in New York for the Summer and Devin in Florida with his family, there was an underlying feeling that this might be turning into something more. Donna decided to shoot her shot in August, but unfortunately, the timing still wasn't right because Devin wasn't ready. They both moved back to Mount Pleasant, MI in late August and remained "just friends." RIP Alas, on October 3rd, 2022, the two FINALLY made it official and have been inseparable ever since. Not literally, though, because upon Donna's graduation in May of 2023, she moved back to Buffalo, NY, full-time, while Devin stayed in Michigan. After over a year of them being separated by only about 6 hours, Devin moved back home to Florida, and now they were separated even further.... The distance made the relationship even stronger through nightly phone calls, opportunities to travel to places around New York, Florida, Chicago, Michigan, Tennessee, and the Bahamas, and a greater appreciation for time spent with loved ones. In the fall of 2024, Donna made Devin aware of just how important it was for them to go on a trip for her birthday in November. Let's just say that Devin did NOT disappoint. He flew up from Florida with an interactive PowerPoint of their 4-day trip planned, filled with all of Donna's favorite things that he presented to her the night before they left. On November 1, 2024, they went to morning mass at St. Michael's Basilica in Toronto, had the most amazing Shwarma, toured Casa De Loma, and then went to CN Tower to get the most beautiful view of the city. It was there that Devin got down on one knee and asked Donna to spend the rest of her life with him!! Finally, Devin found his way to Buffalo, NY, in May of 2025, ending their long-distance. Their journey will continue as they vow their love to one another on Friday, September 4, 2026 in the presence of all of their loved ones!
