It was everyone's favorite time of year, "back to school." This was my first year as a lead clinician, and I received a message just before heading to my school that I would be guiding a new extern on their first day at the elementary school. DJ walked in, slightly frazzled by the parking situation but still smiling, and joined me at this giant table where there were plenty of seats all over...but instead sat down right next to me. After a few minutes of small talk, DJ whips out his phone and goes, "Here, let's share numbers." I thought, "Well, that was fast." Seven years later, time surely feels like it's gone fast and slow all at once. Over the years, we have celebrated many significant milestones: moving in, graduating, getting new jobs, moving again, more graduating , enduring the most challenging periods of our lives and most importantly welcoming our greatest blessing, Mila Sol. Every day, we choose each other over and over again. No relationship is easy, but we certainly want this forever.
