We met through a mutual friend, Joe. Daniel was in the apprenticeship with him and I went to high school with him. I had asked Joe to find me a good guy about a year prior to our meeting. Joe had been telling Daniel for months that he had a girl for him to meet and they would set up a double date. As the months passed, Daniel got impatient and decided he was going to introduce himself. Once we started talking, we never stopped.
While watching tv one night we discussed that we had both wanted to live in the Pacific Northwest as young adults. Additionally, neither of us had actually stepped foot there. We took it as a good enough reason to plan a trip. We spent a week road-tripping through Washington and seeing all of its national parks. Our biggest hike was a couple of days into the trip. After ascending 2,200 ft, he proposed at the highest point of Maple Pass Trail. We spent the rest of the week exploring, but both agree that the North Cascades were the most beautiful and the perfect backdrop for our proposal.
