Our Story

Caroline and Xander met one hot summer day in 2014. They were freshmen in high school and were at cross-country conditioning. Xander laughed at a joke Caroline made. She thought that was weird. Xander was new to the public school scene. He quickly infiltrated himself into Caroline’s friend group. She thought he was annoying (he is). He thought she was weird, but kind of funny (she is). Fast forward to their first WorkCamp in 2015, where they got to know each other a little better. They became friends quickly that summer and into their sophomore year. They had one class together - chemistry - where Xander spent his time distracting Caroline and copying her exam answers. Before they knew it, they were best friends. In January of 2016, they started “dating” (does it really count if you can’t drive?). They spent every weekend almost the same way - watching movies Caroline had never seen one night, and watching horror movies with their friends the next night. In 2018, when they began college at CNU, Xander and Caroline met some of their best friends before classes even started. Caroline lived across campus from everyone else, but she spent almost every day at Xander’s dorm, eating his snacks and watching their friends doing weird shit in the hallways. They felt lucky to end up living with each other and with their best friends for two years of undergrad. For some reason, Caroline decided to go to medical school, 4 hours away from her family and from Xander. They have always supported each other in becoming whatever they wanted to be, but neither one of them knew that they would end up doing “medium distance” for almost four years. In early 2024, Xander saw the light at the end of the tunnel - they would be able to live together in just two years. He bought Caroline’s engagement ring in June, and proposed when she came home for Christmas in December. He proposed to her on a hike in the freezing cold at Great Falls Park, surrounded by absolutely no one. In their free time, Caroline enjoys walking and running with her dog Cash and sitting at the Detorie’s kitchen, annoying whomever is home. Xander enjoys his many expensive hobbies: golf, shooting, and feeding Caroline. They feel lucky to have grown up together and to grow old together. They are so excited to celebrate their marriage with the people who have made them, them! **The happy couple would like to thank the four people, without whom they would not be on this Earth or marrying their best friend. To our parents, we love you and are so grateful that we grew up knowing our in-laws. Thank you for being examples of living for and loving one another and your children. Also, sorry for stealing your basements for the last 10 years.
