We met in sixth grade through aftercare at Reading Fleming Intermediate School. Though Peter was well aware that Nikki had a crush on him, he was too preoccupied with video games to give it much thought. Fast forward over 10 years later and they matched on Tinder. Peter sent the first message, "Guess what material my shirt is made out of?" The answer: Boyfriend Material. This joke was the first of hundreds that accompanied each good morning text from that day forward. After almost five years of dating, they attended Peter's annual family summer trip to LBI. On the evening of September 7th, 2021, as the sun began to set, Peter asked Nikki to watch the beautiful sunset over the water. As they watched the sunset from the roof, a cool breeze took over and Peter offered to grab Nikki the brand new sweatshirt he had just bought her. When he returned, he began to hand her the sweatshirt and said, “This is a very comfortable sweatshirt. Do you know what material it’s made of?” Before Nikki could begin to respond, Peter got down on one knee, pulled out a ring, and replied, “Husband material?” Nikki instantly began to cry as she nodded her head yes and kissed her sixth-grade crush who was now her fiancé and soon-to-be husband.
Though they quickly began planning their wedding, fate had other plans. On January 22nd, 2022, Nikki and Peter announced they were expecting a baby girl due July 2022. Considering the exciting circumstances of the upcoming arrival of baby Desvousges, with careful thought and with the full support of their families, Nikki and Peter united in marriage at a private ceremony at Saint Magdalen’s Catholic Church on April 22nd, 2022. They welcomed Madison Lynn Desvousges on July 15th, 2022, weighing 6 pounds and 4 ounces. Better late than never, Nikki and Peter decided it was time to formally celebrate their love with friends and family this April 20th, 2024, at Beaver Brook Country Club.
