Growing up Josiah and I had heard about each other often but didn't remember much about growing up together. As a little girl my best friend, Aubrey Sergent, would go on and on talking about this boy that she was "in love with" named Josiah, she had pictures of the two of them kissing as babies and was convinced that she was going to marry him one day. After that, not much was heard about each other, but I would never forget about my best friend's childhood crush.

In 2007, my family and I left our life in Ohio behind and started a new journey in the beautiful city of Naples, Florida. Just a few years later, Josiah and his family decided to visit Naples for a vacation in the Summer of 2010. During this week, Josiah and I met each other for the first time in almost a decade at "Lover's Key Beach" in Florida. Immediately, we became the best of friends and wanted to spend every moment with each other before Josiah had to return to South Bend, Indiana. Although neither of us would admit it at the time, we both had developed crushes on each other during this trip.

After being apart for over a year, the Sirok's came back to Florida, but this time for good. Josiah and I became best friends while the Sirok family moved in with the mine temporarily, as they searched for a new home in Florida. Over this time period, Josiah and I kept our true feelings for each other hidden as we grow closer as friends.

It was a Sunday after church, and I went home with the Sirok's to hang out for the day. The day was full of laughter and taking silly pictures, memories that the two of us will never forget. Later that night, I admitted that I had never seen the Sirok family's favorite movie, Nacho Libre, so everyone gathered in the living room to watch. During this movie, Josiah texted me a heart emoji. At that moment I knew that tonight was going to be the night that our friendship turned into more than that. We then spent that entire night texting each other and about our true feelings for each other.

After Josiah and I told each other that we wanted to be more than friends, we had a long wait ahead of us to become an official couple. I remember writing a countdown until the day I was allowed to date him on my mirror and getting so excited that every day was a day closer to being with him. On October 24, 2014, Josiah and I were sitting at lunch when he asked me to go on a walk with him. On that walk, I said yes to the 2nd most important question that he has asked me. YES, I WILL BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND! Who knew that 4 and 1/2 years later I would be saying yes to an even bigger question.
